Horses, dogs and country tunes: Tom Curtain heads west

Country music artist and horseman Tom Curtain joined Ngaarda Breakfast live ahead of his latest outback tour—and even he admits he is never quite sure what will happen when the horses, working dogs and musicians roll into town.
“Anything can happen,” he laughed.
Tom’s tour begins in regional Western Australia, travelling through Kununurra, Broome and Port Hedland before reaching Karratha.
He said returning to the Kimberley and Pilbara was always special.
“We love regional Australia, and we make an effort to get out there and put on an outback show and a concert,” Tom said.
His latest single, Country Boys, Cowgirls and Horses, celebrates small communities, country pride and people looking out for their mates. The song was inspired by locals who proudly defended their “one-horse town”—then showed some visiting city fellas such a good time they did not want to leave.
Alongside the music and horsemanship, Tom continues to share an important message through his work with Dolly’s Dream: be kind, speak up and stand beside anyone experiencing bullying.
He said social media meant bullying no longer stopped at the school gate, making it even more important for young people, parents and communities to keep talking.
Tom is also writing songs for another album and dreaming up some much bigger projects—including bringing outback stories, horses and music to the theatre.
With a truckload of animals, new songs and plenty of country humour coming west, Pilbara audiences can expect more than an ordinary concert.
As Tom put it, anything can happen—and that is all part of the fun.
