INDIGENOUS MARATHON PROJECT TRIALS ON TODAY IN KARRATHA

The Indigenous Marathon Project ‘tryouts’ are on today in Karratha at the Leisureplex from 5 pm.

Ngaarda Meda’s Cassie Ariuu spoke with founder Rob de Castella who was the first Australian to win the men’s open division in Boston, 1986.

Mr de Castella says the project has helped to encourage health and well-being for Aboriginal people.

“We know that physical activity is a very important part of a healthy lifestyle. We now have running and walking groups all around Australia where our graduates come back after their Indigenous Marathon Project graduation and coaching qualifications. A lot of them start their own running and walking groups.”

The next IMP tryouts will be held in Perth on March 2nd from 8 am at the Burswood Park Playground.
