Marble Bar Primary School has been recognized for education excellence after becoming a finalist in the Governor’s STEM Awards.

The tiny school of 100 students has been utilising virtual reality technology (VR) to enhance educational tasks in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).

Principal Shane Wilson says bringing together traditional and western educational concepts has been a key development.

“…….as Educators, we align that to STEM capabilities including creativity cultural intelligence problem-solving and team work.

So one of our programs is integrating CSIRO two-way science integrating learning program using virtual reality equipment to link Western concepts with Aboriginal ideologies in making more opportunities for our students here at Marble Bar.”

Mr Wilson says the students are thrilled to be finalists and is a testament to their work.

The winner for the Governor’s STEM Awards will be announced in November.
