The Government has set a new regulation for Aged Care facilities nationwide.
As of the 1st of July Aged Care are required to have a Registered Nurse on site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, unless granted a 12-month exemption.
Yaandina Aged Care is a facility in Roebourne, who have applied for the 12 month exemption the government has offered for rural and remote areas.
Yaandina Community Service CEO, Emma Dumbrell said that she agrees with the legislation but there are always competing factors to find nurses in remote areas.
“The legislation itself is headed in the right direction, but I think the reality of the human resources shortage Nationwide and and the critical shortage of nurses is impacting on it,” she said.
