YOUTH SCHOLARSHIPS BACK

The Young Australian League has resumed its scholarship program for disadvantaged young people wanting to continue their studies.

CEO Tammy-Rae Schaper said a significant number of scholarships had gone to Aboriginal students.

“We’ve had eight go through our program so far, out of 50, which is a pretty significant number,” she said. “We had three in one year which was pretty exciting, and all from the same school which was a bit of a fluke. And they’ve gone on to do amazing things.”

Ms Schaper said since the scholarship began they had awarded more than $400,000 to 50 students for their upper-secondary, TAFE and University studies.

Scholarships open on July 1 and close on August 15.
