FUNDRAISER FOR FAMILY OF SICK NEWMAN WOMAN

Over $35,000 dollars has been raised in support of the family of a Newman women who remains in intensive care in Royal Perth Hospital.

26-year-old Madison Jones was attending events after the Bloody Slow Cup on the weekend when she collapsed.

Officer-In-Charge of Newman Police, Senior Sergeant Ray Anderson told Ngaarda News, off-duty emergency staff rushed to her aid and found her heart had stopped.

“They performance CPR enough for about 45 or 50 minutes until they were able to get her into a condition to put in an ambulance and take a to the hospital. She was flown to rural Perth hospital and my understanding is she in a serious condition in intensive care at the moment.”

Madison’s family is currently living in Bellingen on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales and her brother, Keagan says the immerse financial costs of quarantining for two weeks, as well as travel has placed a huge burden on their finances.

Writing on the website Go Fund Me, Keagan says additional costs including recovery and potential relocation are also being considered.

“I am asking you today, if you can, to donate just a couple dollars to help my family get to Perth to be by Madison's side and give her all of the support she needs.”

Newman local and pilot, Justin Mahar is offering his own fundraiser for Madison and her family, posting on Facebook:

“As many of you know by now, Madison Jones and her family are doing it tough right now after a shock heart attack. At 26 years old, it must be a terrifying time for both Madison and her family. Polar Aviation have donated a 40 minute sunrise scenic flight departing from Newman airport for 4 people to be auctioned off as a fundraiser. The money raised will go towards Madison's parents in NSW travel and accommodation costs to see her in hospital. Please dig deep and comment below with your bid. Bids will close Friday 29th at 8pm.”

The fundraiser is available on the Newman Community Discussion facebook page.
