MANGROOK FOOTY HOST SELECTED FOR AUSTRALIAN-OF-THE-YEAR AMID HIS COVID DIAGNOSIS

Kulin and Taungurung man Grant Hansen, host of Mangrook Footy show has been selected as Australian of the year.

Hansen has been selected as a local hero for his work as a broadcaster over his life, which has included working on SBS, NITV, and 3KND

He reflected on his time as a broadcaster which has led to this nomination.

“I think about all the people that molded and shaped me these years, all the elders and activists”.

Currently, Mr. Hansen is sick at home and had symptoms similar to hayfever, when he decided to double-check whether he did catch COVID.

“To my surprise I had COVID”.

Being double vaccinated Hansen’s symptoms were less strong and has been in isolation for the past three days.

His message to first nation people who are apprehensive about getting their jab is to get vaccinated.

“If you do get vaccinated you will get lesser symptoms like me”.
