Country musician Tom Curtain brought his Outback show and concert to Karratha on Monday, October 5, combining music, horses, working dogs and crowd participation.
Speaking with Ngaarda Media, Tom said the people in each town help shape the show, with audience members invited to join hands-on animal activities and old-fashioned games, including wheelbarrow and sack races.
For Tom, the goal is to give people a lift and leave them feeling ready to face whatever challenges they have in their lives.
“We can see the animals and the music are having on the people that are coming,” he said, describing how some audience members arrive feeling down but leave with renewed energy.
The show also includes a Dolly’s Dream segment, sharing an anti-bullying message through demonstrations of working with dogs in a kind manner.

Tom said some of his most memorable experiences come from personal encounters after performances. He recalled an 89-year-old woman who used a walking frame asking to pat a horse for the first time.
“She was trembling and then tears just came strolling down her cheeks,” he said.
For Annabel Curtain, seeing generations of families enjoying themselves together is a special part of the experience.
She said the shows create opportunities for children to share the dance floor with parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents.
“It’s just wholesome. It’s feel good. It’s happy. It’s positive. And just fun,” Annabel said.
As the show continues to grow, she hopes bringing entertainment to smaller towns and regions remains central to its future.
“Something that’s really special to us and really important to us is the ability to bring it to small towns … that often miss out on this type of entertainment,” she said.
